EYE INJURY

Irritant or Chemical in Eye

  • Place student on their back.
  • Tilt the head toward the injured side.
  • With gloved hand hold the eyelid open.
  • Slowly pour water or eyewash into the inner corner of the eye.
  • Notify parents and school nurse.
Eyeball Injury
  • Place student on their back.
  • DO NOT ATTEMPT to remove any object that has entered the eye.
  • Place a sterile dressing loosely, but securely, over eye.
  • Close and cover the unaffected eye to keep dirt, fluid and blood from entering.
  • Notify parents and school nurse.
  • Call 911 or local emergency response team.
BACK & NECK INJURY - EYE INJURY
HEAD INJURY / HEADACHE - EAR INJURY
SPRAINS / FRACTURES / DISLOCATIONS POISONS
SEIZURES - CHOKING
NOSEBLEEDS / BLEEDING - SHOCK
DIABETIC EMERGENCIES - DENTAL INJURY
BURNS
NAUSEA / VOMITING / ABDOMINAL PAIN / FAINTING
BITES / STINGS / SKIN IRRITATION
EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE
